The kit is very good. It contains enough clay to make a few different things, tools, paint and sealer. I would have liked some info included - what the tools are for and how to use them, how long the clay takes to dry, ideas for projects etc. An info sheet on 2 projects is included, and there are a few photos on the website, but it would help if the box contained this info. Otherwise, it is great and I will order more.

How to use the tools is also explained through out the manual, but we will take this on board and create an info graphic in our updated instructions manual. We have hundreds of video tutorials online to follow too for next time 🙂 So many different things you can make! We also have a blog on how to get the best results for using our kits with lots of videos - you should have received this in an email after your order confirmation. Thanks again for your support.

I thought I’d do a new review of my experience using the modeletto air dry clay kit. My previous review was a reflection of my first experience with using their products and unfortunately it wasn’t the best experience. Graciously the co-owner Krissy offered to send out a new kit, so that I could hopefully have a more enjoyable experience with the kit. As expected from my initial impressions (prior to the first experience) were met completely. I had a much better experience using the clay, no issues with the paint nor cracking. I finally made what I had tried to the first go around. I’m so happy with how it turned out. I made this cute yarn ball bowl and fried egg incense holder.
We had so much fun! Such a great different activity to do with your family.

This kit is the perfect activity! My boyfriend and I took the Modeletto clay with us on a weekend away, and it was such a fun way to unwind. We each made our own little trinket holders, and it was honestly such a good laugh. It doesn’t have to be perfect it’s all about the fun and the memories. Highly recommend for a chill afternoon!

Being an eco-friendly and sustainable brand was non-negotiable for us.
- Our clay is natural, non-toxic and made right here in New Zealand.
- Our packaging is home compostable, recyclable and reusable.
- Stickers are made with PVC free products
- Clay is wrapped in a compostable cling-wrap + compostable kraft pouch
- Paints come in reusable glass jars
- Paint brush handles + sculpting tools are wooden
- Mailer boxes are craft cardboard and can be reused
- Each box is packed with reused wool insulation
- Compostable mailer bags
For best results leave for 1/2 weeks. Leave it to dry in a cool place.
It looks great in its natural state with 2 coats of sealer, or paint with white acrylic paint (and colours if you wish), let the paint dry and apply 2 coats of sealer.
Don't put your piece in your oven, or apply heat to try to speed this process up, because it will likely cause your shape to crack. If you'd like to work on your piece then take a break, no worries! Just wrap it in an eco-friendly bag i.e bin liner and come back to it when you feel like it. We don't recommend leaving it for too long though.
NB: Our air-dry clay is not food or water safe, so if you want to make a bowl to eat out of, or a mug to drink out of, you must get your creations fired in a kiln after its dried for at least 2 weeks. It must not have our paint or sealer on it.
