Our clay is a special hybrid clay, so if you do want to make something you can eat or drink from you can buy a ceramic kit instead.

Why does the clay not need firing in a kiln?

Our clay is specially formulated to dry and harden naturally — no kiln needed for decorative pieces!

Just let your piece dry completely, then finish with sealer (or paints + sealer) for water resistance and a ceramic-like look.

Important: Air-dry clay is not food or water safe. If you want to make functional mugs or bowls, you’ll need to have your piece fired in a kiln. Choose this ceramic kit if you’re looking to create something functional.

How much clay is included?

1kg - enough to make a few things. You can buy more here if you need more.

What can I make?

You can make so many things with our air-dry pottery kits - model your shape at your place and let it air-dry. Some ideas are: vases (pop a glass jar in to hold water for fresh flowers, incense holders, candlestick holders, wall sculptures, jewellery dishes, fruit bowls (for fruit with the skin on). Head to our IG for lots of tutorials.

No kilns are needed, but the option is there if you’d like to fire your piece and make it food and water safe - take the stress out of that mission and make something that doesn’t require firing

The best way to get off my phone and the clay is so nice to work with. I've tried so many air-dry clays and this is by far the best. Can't wait to make more

The kit is very good. It contains enough clay to make a few different things, tools, paint and sealer. I would have liked some info included - what the tools are for and how to use them, how long the clay takes to dry, ideas for projects etc. An info sheet on 2 projects is included, and there are a few photos on the website, but it would help if the box contained this info. Otherwise, it is great and I will order more.

How to use the tools is also explained through out the manual, but we will take this on board and create an info graphic in our updated instructions manual. We have hundreds of video tutorials online to follow too for next time 🙂 So many different things you can make! I thought I’d do a new review of my experience using the modeletto air dry clay kit. My previous review was a reflection of my first experience with using their products and unfortunately it wasn’t the best experience. Graciously the co-owner Krissy offered to send out a new kit, so that I could hopefully have a more enjoyable experience with the kit. As expected from my initial impressions (prior to the first experience) were met completely. I had a much better experience using the clay, no issues with the paint nor cracking. I finally made what I had tried to the first go around. I’m so happy with how it turned out. I made this cute yarn ball bowl and fried egg incense holder.

We had so much fun! Such a great different activity to do with your family.

This kit is the perfect activity! My boyfriend and I took the Modeletto clay with us on a weekend away, and it was such a fun way to unwind. We each made our own little trinket holders, and it was honestly such a good laugh. It doesn’t have to be perfect it’s all about the fun and the memories. Highly recommend for a chill afternoon!
